On our fourth  merit the Discovery Boys will be working on putting together and learning the science of building a real rocket. They will actually fly it after it it’s all done and checked out for safety by one of the commanders involved in the merit.

In our first class will be getting familiar with all the products that will be used to put together the rocket. We will be talking about safety and teaching about safety and how to properly launch the rocket.

12/16
In our second class we will start putting together piece by piece and painting our rocket.

12/23 – there will be no class due to Christmas

12/30
In our third class the commanders in charge of Merit will be inspecting their rockets, talk more about safety and actually doing a dry run on how to properly launch the rocket and safety procedures !

1/6
In our fourth class. We will actually go outside and launch in a correct manner with supervision of the commanders  one by one will launch their rockets.

On our fifth merit the Adventure and Discovery boys will be working on carpentry and painting where they will be working on our freezer chest for the campsite, putting it together and painting it. This would teach the boys on property painting and using the right materials to get it clean finish.

In our first class we will be working together to build a housing out of wood for the freezer chest, where the boys would be measuring and cutting and putting the project together.

In our second class will be inspecting how everything came together and prepping up for sanding and painting where the boys will be doing hands-on

In our third class we will be inspecting and fixing any challenges before we do the final painting !

In our fourth class we will be doing our final check and see how things came together. We will ask questions on the project and what they learned in concerns

Week 1
In May 2027, commander Glen and commander Roberto will be working alongside Mrs. Phillips to teach the class of cooking . Our first class will be a game where they physically do measuring with real food.

Week 2
We will be working on food pyramid a game, where they have to organize the four food groups  in the correct category  of food  and the importance of having a balance meal .

Week 3
We will be teaching the boys how to make muffins from scratch as part of the procedure of learning how to bake. They will have to do measurements and mix together as a team. Yes, at the end we’ll get to eat it as the reward of the hard work!

Week 4
Mrs. Phillips has a big surprise for the boys. We will be going out to the campsite staying there for 3 days and within those  3 days we will be working with Mrs. Phillips teaching the boys how to properly measure and actually cook in the campground kitchen as a team.
