Baby Dedications

Baby Dedications

At Hope Evangelical Community Church, we believe that child dedication represents the act of giving back to God the gift he has given you as parents. It is an act of worship, thanksgiving, dependence, trust, and commitment. The practice of child dedication has been modeled throughout the Bible.

The Israelites brought their 8-day-old children to the priest for blessing. Hannah brought her long-awaited son Samuel to the priest Eli to dedicate him to the Lord. Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple for his dedication.

We recognize that salvation only comes to a child through that child’s own trust in Christ as Savior and Lord. It is not passed on to a child through dedication. Through the act of dedication, however, is a parents covenant to the Lord to raise their child(ren) by modeling Godly principles with the desire that one day, their child(ren) will become followers of Jesus Christ themselves. It is also a covenant act of entrusting that child into the community of the church.

We count it a privilege to join with you in dedicating your child(ren) to the Lord and covenant with you to do all we can as a faith community to encourage your child’s spiritual formation in Christ.
