Ranger Kids

The Ranger Kids Advancement Trail is based on the needs, interest and characteristics of boys in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. The Trail is a plan of advancement through learning—from both experiences and activities—and being recognized for their learning. It is designed to offer every boy adventure and fun. The Trail is more than an interesting course of action; it is a new experience—a new achievement. It is a Ranger’s opportunity to grow through new abilities, knowledge, and desires.

The Ranger Kids Advancement Trail is made up of three trails: Elk, Wolverine, and Cougar

To earn each trail’s patch, the Ranger Kid must earn the four awards along the trail. For example, once a Ranger Kid has earned the Antelope Award, the Ram Award, the Caribou Award, and the Buffalo Award, he receives the Elk patch. The boys can earn these awards in any order because they are all of equal value, not based on previous requirements. The individual steps that the Ranger Kid must take to earn each award are directed to help him grow PHYSICALLY, SPIRITUALLY, MENTALLY, and SOCIALLY.

After completing each step toward earning the award, the achievement is noted in the Ranger Kid’s Handbook and workbook with the commander’s signature and the date.

Antelope Award

Requirements for Earning the Antelope Award
 
❑ Physical: Clean around the church for one month.
  • Clean leaves and branches from outside grounds.
❑ Spiritual: Memorize John 15:12 and Romans 12:10.
  • John 15:12: 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
  • Romans 12:10: 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
 ❑ Mental: Learn the pledge to the Christian flag.
Learn the blue point Alert.
  • Christian flag
    : “I pledge allegiance to the Christian Flag, and to the Savior for whose Kingdom it stands; one brotherhood uniting all true Christians, in service, and in love.”
  • Alert: He is mentally, physically, and spiritually alert.

Ram Award

Requirements for Earning the Ram Award
 
❑ Physical: Help the commander set up and clean the room for one month. Make a patrol collage.

❑ Spiritual: Memorize Proverbs 18:10 and Romans 1:16.
  • Proverbs 18:10: 10 The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
  • Romans 1:16: 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
❑ Mental: Learn the pledge to the United States flag. Learn the blue point
  • United States pledge:
    I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of     America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
  •  Loyal. He is Faithful to his church, family, outpost, and friends

Requirements for Earning the Caribou Award

❑  Make a poster on fire safety.
 
❑ Spiritual: Memorize Ephesians 6:1 and Leviticus 19:32.
  • Ephesians 6:1: 6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
  • Leviticus 19:32: 32 “‘Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord.
❑ Mental: Learn the song
  • “Wherever I Go, God Is with Me.”
  • Learn the blue point Honest.
    Honest: He does not lie, cheat, or steal.
❑ Social: Name two dads in the Bible.
